Hooray, my family has finally arrived in Paris! After getting delayed in Dublin all day, my mother and brother arrived in Paris late evening yesterday. We scrapped our plans for last night and decided to slept until we, or at least I, woke up. Well this morning we headed out to Versailles to see the chateau, and because of the gloomy weather and occasional drizzling, it wasn't nearly as crowded as we had feared. It was a blast to go back after everything I've learned in class, and it's fun to be with family who are excited to see it after such a long time. We spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon there, and then headed back to Paris.

In the mid-afternoon, we decided to do the walking tour of the Latin Quarter that was planned for yesterday, and we also did the Musee National du Moyen Age. That museum, with the famous Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, was one of my favorites and it was really great to go back with time to see what I was interested in. I really wanted every book in the gift shop! When I go into Medieval French art as a discipline, I'll start building my library. :)

After the museum, Shakespeare & Co. bookstore, and a few churches, we headed over to Luxembourg gardens. There we rented a little sailboat that we pushed into the center of the fountain with a bamboo pole. The boats were simple, but really amazingly well-constructed and we have a really good time comparing them to full-sized boats. We have to see if we can get one of our own online!

After a busy day that tired out all of us, I think we are going to call it a night and go to bed early. The rain that just started letting down sort of dampened our plans, too.

Tomorrow we are off to Giverny in the morning! We'll see about the weather to judge our afternoon plans. Hope you enjoy the new photos! I'm actually in some of them now...

Bonsoir everyone!
